Hair Dry As a Bone? DIY Avocado Mask!

My trick for restoring health in dry and damaged hair? You need just three ingredients – avocado, honey and coconut oil.

DIY beauty products have not always been my faves. Many trials of creating a homemade cream or mask ended up in failure. However, there are some recipes that are simply doomed to success. You just need to reach out for one, two or three ingredients in your kitchen and magic up a DIY beauty product. I have been using only the things I have in my kitchen for a while and given up buying online tons of unnecessary immediate products.

MASK FOR DRY AND DAMAGED HAIR

The situation is the same when it comes to my DIY mask for dry and damaged hair. It is designed for curly hair – the type that naturally needs special care. On the other hand, feel free to use it even if your hair is straight or wavy because the mask works for a dry and damaged hairdo that lost shine and requires an immediate repair. An instablogger (@neptunesquest) came up with the idea; she has tight spirals.

Why is the mask so effective? It owes the effects to the ingredients. Although there are only three components, their combination delivers amazing results. The mask brings back a proper moisture, shine and softness. Every ingredient is responsible for something different.

  • Honey – great at hydrating and regenerating. It makes hair soft and smooth therefore it is often used solo. It is a perfect substance for dry, over-processed and splitting hair. Honey reduces breakage and boosts hair growth.
  • Coconut oil – one of the most popular oils. It restores the natural shine and health. The oil penetrates hair bulbs and provides them with essential minerals e.g. potassium, magnesium and zinc. It seals cuticle scales, leaving your hairdo soft and luminous.
  • Avocado – extremely beneficial to dry and brittle hair. If applied to wet hair, it penetrates the hair, providing repair. Avocado smoothes, nourishes and moisturises hair that becomes soft to the touch. An effective ‘reinforcer’.

HOW TO MAKE?

How to prepare the ultra-moisturising mask for dry hair? You need no more than three ingredients: honey, coconut oil, ripe avocado. Use the proportions that let you create a semi-fluid mask. Mix well.

HOW TO USE?

Comb your hair out, apply the mask strand by strand. Leave in for more or less 60 minutes. Next, rinse it out with tepid water and wash hair with a paraben-free shampoo. Such a nourishing treatment should be done twice a week. Do not apply it more often because your hair would get too much protein.
