Wet Hair. Why I don’t like the hairdo beloved by celebrities

It’s said to be a much-loved hairdo of, for example, Jennifer Lopez. Sadly enough, I can’t place this hairstyle on my fav list since I don’t find it attractive. What kind of hairdo am I talking about?

I devote today’s entry to so-called Wet Hair trend.

I’ve to admit that this hairdo offers many obvious advantages, however, I haven’t developed a real affection for Wet Hair yet, and I don’t think I’ll ever do. Surely, first and foremost, it’s super easy to do if we have two items at hand: a long-hold cosmetic and a comb. A visit at a hairdresser’s is unnecessary because this simple hairdo can be set on your own, at home, in more or less a quarter of an hour.

This hairdo has a few versions – beginning with the ‘entirely wet’ long or short hair slicked-back, and ending at hair that looks only ‘damped’ at the roots and dry at the ends, also slicked-back. We have a few options to choose.

As mentioned above, Wet Hair is beloved by many celebrities. This kind of a simple hairdo can be seen on various galas, fashion shows and even on the red carpet. Hair stylists agree that these slicked-back hairdos look elegant and very feminine.

There are various ways to obtain Wet Hair effect. Of course, using a regular water isn’t a good idea since it will evaporate fast and the effect of wet hairdo vanishes. Instead, it’s worth applying gels or hair styling pastes, alternatively hair styling oils.

WET HAIR? THANK YOU, BUT RATHER NOT

Despite the liking I have towards celebrities and various stylists, I’m not and definitely won’t be a supporter of Wet Hair. I’ve never done this hairdo for any big occasion. OK, once I gave it a go but when I was talking with my friends later, we laughed that I had looked as if I had been doing oil hair treatment because I tend to put my hair back so as to make it more convenient for me to do regular stuff at home. The truth is that:

  • Wet Hair looks (at least for me, however, I think that many people would share my opinion) as if it wasn’t an intentional effect of hair styling but rather an effect obtained by an accident. For me, it looks as if a person hadn’t washed her hair for a week and, unfortunately, was captured by a photographer, sorry for saying that but this is just my opinion;
  • it’s easy to apply too much of a styling product. As a consequence, you may get the freaky looking, greasy, clumped hair instead of the effect of delicately dewy hair, something like “Oh, sorry for my hair but I’ve just left the swimming pool.”;
  • this hair style doesn’t suit everyone, which for me looks just ugly. In my case, Wet Hair isn’t a good solution because I have very high forehead and protruding ears, which I shouldn’t definitely bring out, especially in this way.
